Do you want to laugh about the possibility of being burnt to a flaming crisp via the end of the world? Lawrence Joseph batters up the discussion of the infamous date 12-21-12 (December 21, 2012), by drawing from scientific observations, historical probabilities, and even theological moorings. Tim LaHaye groupies or the liberal Christian scholarly vanguard will not find Joseph amusing. While he is far from my main academic commentary on Daniel or Revelation, he does provide prime fat lighter for a crackling discussion. Especially intriguing is his observations of the Christian West from Islamic eyes. Though of Lebanese nationality, he himself is not Islamic.
Reading his book this year (January, 2008) has been interesting to say the least. He predicts increasingly warmer years to come until the big "ka-boom" with increased sunspot activity. However, this year has been the coldest winter on record in the last 30 years. It has been recently reported that sunspot activity is actually at an unusual low. Nonetheless, his read is indeed interesting.
